Palm Beach school district

The area of Palm Beach is served by the Palm Beach County School District, which oversees a total of 236 schools. This comprises 109 preschools, 150 elementary schools, 90 middle schools, and 59 high schools. The school district serves a total of over 189,000 students across all schools. It is the 10th largest school district in the country, and the 5th largest in Florida. The school district has an average teacher-to-student ratio of 1:16, which allows teachers to closely supervise their students’ learning.

In a 2022 report, the Palm Beach County School District maintained its A rating, outperforming its neighbors. Only two school districts in all of Florida were A-rated, the other one being the Miami-Dade School District. For the 2021-2022 school year, 85% of Palm Beach high schools were given a rating of A or B, with zero schools earning an F rating.

Choice programs

Many of Palm Beach schools are also highly rated by its residents on Niche. Suncoast Community High School, located in Riviera Beach, is ranked #5 among the best public high schools in all of Florida. It has choice programs in computer science, innovative interactive technology, math, science, and engineering, and even an international baccalaureate diploma program. Ranked next at #6 is Alexander W. Dreyfoos Jr. School of the Arts, which is located in West Palm Beach. It is distinct from other Palm Beach high schools because it is an internationally recognized art school that encourages students to explore their creativity while striving for academic excellence. Many other schools in the district offer choice programs which specialize in specific educational tracks aimed at preparing its graduates into top-notch careers and universities.

Private schools

Parents can also opt to enroll their children in any of the 67 private schools in Palm Beach. The top-rated schools include The American Academy Palm Beach Campus, which is situated in a 40-acre property in Delray Beach (20 miles away) and has a maximum class size of 12 students. It has programs specializing in academics, fine arts, and sports, and teaching methods uniquely individualized for each student. Saint Andrew’s School is an international boarding school in Boca Raton (27 miles away) with students from over 40 countries. It was founded in 1961 and is one of the top boarding schools worldwide, with world-class programs and a teacher-to-student ratio of 1:8.

Higher education

Palm Beach residents don’t have to move out to go to university, as there are many excellent colleges and universities in Palm Beach. Florida Atlantic University has campuses in Boca Raton and Jupiter, with over 170 programs to choose from. It is the most diverse public university in Florida, and offers groundbreaking programs in research and education with world-class facilities for athletics and recreation. Palm Beach State College has five campuses offering over 130 programs, with a highlight in health science courses.

Schools in Ibis

If you plan on residing in Ibis, fret not. There are A-rated schools close by.  Pierce Hammock Elementary School in Loxahatchee (17 miles away) is a school committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for its students to excel academically and holistically. Western Pines Middle School in Royal Palm Beach (12 miles away)  is another A-rated magnet school with programs in graphic arts, pre-information technology, and pre-medical sciences. Seminole Ridge Community High School in Westlake (20 miles away) is also A-rated and offers programs in biotechnology, construction, television and film production technology, automotive service technology, information technology, medical sciences, and even an Army Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) program.
