A TEACHER AND A DENTIST RETIRE TO THE PALM BEACHES
In 1997, Steve and Barbara Telchin, residents of Niskayuna, New York began their search for a second home in South Florida. Per the recommendation of friends they visited a highly regarded golf and country club community named Ibis. They immediately felt ‘at home’ in Ibis and purchased a second home. After moving to Ibis and becoming Charter Premier members, they began to fall in love with the community and became full-time residents within two months.
FROM IBIS MEMBERS TO IBIS AMBASSADORS
Selling homes in a community in which Barbara and Steve are passionate about was a natural choice. In 2001, Barbara and Steve, began helping their friends, neighbors and fellow Ibis members in their Ibis home searches. Their dedication to customer service, extensive marketing, expertise and interpersonal skills helped define them as consummate professionals. Barbara, a mother of three and a former school teacher with a Masters degree in Education from Queens College translated her interpersonal skills and honed her entrepreneurial talents as she entered the exciting world of real estate. Steve, a retired dentist who graduated from The University of Vermont and Temple University with his DDS, ran a successful dentistry practice for 25 years, managing hundreds of employees over that period. Steve’s experience in running a successful business and meeting new challenges day after day prepared him for selling homes in Ibis. As Barbara and Steve’s reputation soared, so did the South Florida real estate market, propelling their success even further.
THE TELCHIN GROUP IS FORMED
In 2004, their youngest son, Eric moved to Ibis and joined Barbara and Steve’s successful real estate team, forming ‘The Telchin Group’. A George Washington University Presidential Arts Scholar, Eric received an education focused on design, marketing and business administration. Before moving to Ibis, Eric was a Senior Designer for The Washington Post’s web site and broadcast designer for ABC News, designing on-air graphics for World News Tonight with Peter Jennings, Nightline, 20/20, Good Morning America and This Week with Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts. Eric learned to translate his marketing and design background to real estate, revolutionizing how properties in Ibis are showcased. A Charter Tennis Member and Ibis resident, Eric loves the excitement, challenges and opportunities of the Ibis real estate market. In addition to the marketing side of the business, what Eric loves most is helping buyers and attain seemingly impossible goals. Eric is also an internationally published childrens book author. In 2012, Eric’s first book, “See a Heart, Share a Heart” was published by Penguin Books for Young Readers. In 2016, Little Bee published “The Black and White Factory” and “The Color Factory” in 2018. Eric’s three books have been translated into German, Turkish and Korean. In 2018, “The Black and White Factory” was a nominee for the Sakura Medal in Japan.

My love affair with the tropics, and specifically South Florida began at the tender age of 6 during a family vacation. The gorgeous winter weather, vivid turquoise waters of the Atlantic and balmy breezes were the lure and I was immediately hooked! The opportunity to move to South Florida became a reality in 1992, when, as a pharmaceutical drug representative for a Fortune 50 corporation, I was able to transfer territories to Palm Beach County from my hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. It’s been 23 years and my romance and love for this dynamic, beautiful area has never wavered. I moved to Ibis in 2007, and enjoy my home in Larkspur Landing. The community of Ibis and its surrounding terrain is pristine and a pleasure to explore, so much so that I decided in 2004 to become a REALTOR, and spend my time sharing my love for Ibis and the many inviting communities that this county has to offer with others seeking temperate weather in stunningly beautiful surroundings where golf, tennis, and the ocean are a daily part of life 12 months of the year.
